I wanted to come up with a catchy blogline, but my inner editor had control of the keys. She's feisty.. (Her name is Pie). I write stories for young people.
The new year is just around the corner, 2019 swooshed by in a blink. I’ve named 2020 the year of the Twin swan and I’m really looking forward to it. So when this month of saying goodbye to the old year (& other festivities) is over we’re stepping into a magic year.
And what better way to celebrate than getting yourself a new bullet journal!
(I love Tigerrrrrs)
See: year of the Twin Swan for A Reason (first page in shiny new bullet journal).
Pretty n’est pas? (French for “isn’t it?”)
I already formulated some goals I want to work towards, and SURPRISE, a lot of them are writing goals. Finish two stories, query novel before my birthday, get rejected, to name a few. I set aside room in my journal for agent research and otherwise brilliant ideas and marked the pages with Maki and Hamster washi tape because I need all the encouragement I can get.
Have a happy month!
Yesterday, I was in the car with two of my kids, when Jonah (boy, 7 years old), proclaimed he was going to be a writer. I smiled and told them I also have that dream since I was five.
Baukje (girl, 10 yrs old) was surprised and curious. So I reluctantly told them about stories I’ve written when I was their age (a never ending fairy tale about a magical flower and a series about a flying teabag. I know, I was a brilliant kid, haha).
I admitted it was still my dream and they were very interested in what I was writing now.
The conversation went something like this
Me: ‘It’s a story for teens about a girl that is half devil/half human. Her father is the devil (who’s retired for the time being) and her mother, well she’s a bit of a criminal. ‘
Jonah: ‘Cool’.
Me: (surprised they were still interested) ‘The girl protects the gate to hell which is in Paris and only has to do this for a couple of days, because she has done it for years. But then a terrorist starts bombing sites in the city.
Baukje: ‘Really?’ Does this really happen?”
Me: “No love, it’s just a story.’
Baukje: ‘Isn’t it too scary to write?’
Two things happened:
(Jonah and Baukje being cute, standing on the Eiffel Tower).
I turned 35!
And there’s no place better to celebrate this memorable fact than Paris.
See? (Eifel Tower view)
The kids went along so we visited the very cool Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle . They especially enjoyed the Grande Galerie de l’Évolution. (so did I).
And I bought myself the best birthday present ever.
His name is Tibbe.
Bye!
Off to change my bio. How fast do these years go!
Here they are !
Some snaps of summer, as promised. You can probably tell I’ve a thing for clouds. And the colour blue is THE best colour.
Last weekend I was in Copenhagen and so lucky to have summer weather!
Copenhagen is a real cool city for several reasons, but I will name a few:
So if you ever go to Copenhagen make sure not to miss these things ( Tivoli, FOOD, Look at the Houses, be Jealous of Plants because they live in a Glass Palace).
P.S. You can click on the pictures to see what they’re supposed to represent, some are kind of blurry. 🙂
Happy Tuesday!
I went to a creative life event and participated in a workshop flaylay. It was fun 🙂
And also made this from snappap.
And, last but certainly not least, enjoyed the Spring weather with my boy.
Happy Monday!
I love England. So this September my boyfriend and I went on a roadtrip to the Cotswolds and Cornwall.
In case you’re really curious: this was our route:

It was the first time I used AirBnB to find accomodation. And we were NOT disappointed.
But enough with the words, I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
We went to Ramsbury, Tedbury, Bibury, Bourton-on- the-water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Oxford, Bath, Clevedon (there was a long queue and my boyfriend couldn’t take it anymore so we drove to Clevedon. It was an unscheduled stop, but I got cake, so I was happy. And the town had a lovely seaside).
In Cornwall we visited Padstow, Land’s End, and St. Ives. Such prettiness.
